School Attendance Matters
At Streethouse J, I & N School we believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving a full time education, which requires regular and punctual attendance.
Our whole school attendance target this year is 96%.
By law, all children of compulsory school age must receive a full time education. Once your child is registered at school you are legally responsible for making sure that they attend regularly.
Good attendance tracking is a key part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding our pupils. If your child fails to attend punctually and regularly you risk getting a penalty notice or being prosecuted.
Explanation of Annual Percentage (%) Attendance
Attendance Days Missed Over a Year
100% 00 DAYS
95% 10 DAYS
90% 20 DAYS
85% 30 DAYS
80% 40 DAYS
If your child’s attendance is under 95%, they are missing at least two weeks of learning time a year. If their attendance is at 90%, they are missing four weeks. This will significantly affect their work and reduce their grades.
Term time holidays
This is something that as a school we actively discourage. All education from Reception to Year 6 is statutory and pupils must attend every day. If we have ongoing concerns about attendance of pupils in our Lower Foundation Stage (nursery) then this may result in the place being withdrawn.
Please do not book term time holidays and then request authorisation. We will not authorise such requests.
Please see our school attendance policies in the Policy section of our website.
