Religious Education
Religious Education supports our children and young people in reflecting on their own values, whilst developing a deep and lasting understanding of the faiths and beliefs of others within the community and beyond. Knowledge is vital for our young people to show empathy and respect towards each other and towards all members of our richly diverse city and region.
Our locally agreed syllabus is ambitious in its aims, with carefully sequenced content to ensure acquisition of knowledge over time and a thorough understanding of key concepts. The syllabus reinforces the importance of religious education as an academic discipline. Through the learning opportunities within the syllabus, our young people will be able to reflect, evaluate, interpret, discuss and grapple with complex themes, developing positive attitudes towards people from all religions and world views. We want our young people to articulate with confidence their values, thoughts and beliefs and to share these readily, listening to others and reflecting on what it means to be human.
